Invasion Pathways and IPM for Aquatic Species

Lyn Gettys, Ph.D

Overview: Gettys will outline the philosophy of IPM and discuss the four main types of management strategies that can be used in IPM programs, providing case studies highlighting the benefits of using an integrated approach to the control invasive plant species.

Speaker Bio: Gettys conducts research on the aquatic and wetland plants that are found in Florida and the southeastern United States. Her research on invasive plants focuses on the biology, ecology, and control of introduced exotic species. Her native plant research includes propagation, nursery production, habitat restoration techniques, and using plants for phytoremediation. She also maintains a collection of native and exotic plants for teaching and demonstration purposes.

CEUs:  This session is eligible for 1 FDACS Aquatic Pesticide Applicators License CEU and/or 1.5 FNGLA Certified Professional CEUs.
